Glory mold created by Kitty Cantrell introduced in 2000.
The Breyer model horse is a 2010 Mid-Year
release for the Portrait Models series. A portion of the
proceeds from the sale of the Zenyatta models go to three
great charities: the fantastic Thoroughbred
rescue/retirement home Old Friends, The Race for Education -
providing educational programs and college scholarships to
young people in the equine and agriculture industry with
significant financial need, and Canter California's
Thoroughbred adoption program.
The mighty 17-hand Zenyatta can be described
as funny, flirtatious and fan-friendly. This champion
Thoroughbred racehorse has re-written racing history in 2009
by beating an all-male field to become the first mare ever
to win the Breeders' Cup Classic. Indomitable on the track,
this "super filly" won 19 consecutive races in a 20- race
career, outperforming former consecutive win record holders
Cigar and Citation. This racing mare is also an American
record-holder for consecutive victories without defeat in
unrestricted races. Zenyatta stands taller than most of her
opponents at 17.2 hands tall at the shoulder and carried
1200 pounds on her frame while racing. Not only has she been
featured in W magazine and called "hard to beat, and harder
to ignore" by the New York Times in the 2010 racing season,
Zenyatta won the Eclipse Horse of the Year award in 2010
which is the highest honor given in American
thoroughbred horse racing.
